Testing for Oxygen
- A glowing splint (one that is glowing red but has no flame) is used to test for oxygen.
- If oxygen is present in the test tube, the glowing splint will relight when inserted into the gas sample.
- The splint relights because combustion requires oxygen, so a large supply of oxygen reignites the reaction.
